Criteria & Evaluation Mechanism

Category 1: The Best Scientific Research in the Field of Motherhood and Childhood
Criteria:

This award is awarded to local graduate students who are specialized in the social and humanitarian field who have carried out studies and conducted research that contribute to the development and treatment of priority issues in the field of motherhood and childhood, such as developing children’s and youth’s talents, healthy lifestyle of mother and child, protection of mother and child rights, increase the involvement and participation of children with disabilities, and working mother support, all in line with the strategic objectives of the government and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Terms of participation:

  1. The research must be recent and carried out during the last three years preceding of the date of participation
  2. To Participates in this category, it is required to fill in the participation form, which includes a summary of the research and a personal summery of the researcher, in addition to (3) printed copies of the research, along with a softcopy in “Word” format stored in Flash Memory.
  3. The researcher cannot participate with more than one research within the same season/round.
  4. The research must not have received another award, or have been published or presented at a conference, seminar, competition or to any other party.
  5. The research should be of a procedural nature related to studying a real life issue in one of the following areas of motherhood and childhood:
    • Developing children›s and youth’s ‹ talents, healthy lifestyle of mother and child, protection of mother and child rights, working mothers support. Empowering children with disabilities.
  6. The research should include recommendations to achieve scientific and practical benefit and contribute to the provision of solutions or recommendations that are useful in addressing the areas of motherhood and childhood mentioned above.
  7. The researcher should adhere to applicable scientific documentation.
  8. The search should be between 3000 and 10,000 words, excluding annexes
  9. The research should be written in the standard Arabic language. If the research is submitted in another language, a summary in standard Arabic language should be enclosed.
Eveluation:

1. Contribution of research in addressing the issues of interest (70%)

  • Relevance of research to target areas of motherhood and childhood
  • Importance of the subject of the research and its scientific value and recency
  • Extent to which the research contributes to providing realistic solutions or recommendations and their applicability
  • Extent of addition to human knowledge

2. Methodology of scientific research used and its suitability (20%)

  • Appropriateness of determining the research scope and area (the research objectives and the examined hypotheses)
  • Extent to which the research methods used in terms of methodology (quantitative / qualitative) and the tools used (questionnaire / interviews / observations) are suitable to the research objectives and questions
  • Quality of application of the research methodology (quality of study sample, impartiality assurance)
  • Validity of approach followed in data analysis (quantitative / qualitative), discussion and accurate interpretation.
  • Extent to which relevant previous studies have been used, discussed and properly utilized

3. Extent of use of scientific documentation and indexing method (10%)

  • Extent to which scientific documentation is used correctly in terms of the precise citation of all references used
  • Extent of recency of sources used, their adequacy, their diversity and their relevance to the research subject
Category 2: The Leading Mother and Child Friendly Entity
Criteria:

This is awarded to public and private institutions in the UAE that provide the necessary facilities to ease the life of mothers and children, and provided a supportive environment for their employees of ‘working mothers’ to assist them in creating the appropriate balance between their career and family.

All in line with the strategic objectives of the Government and The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, meeting and exceeding the needs of stakeholders and leading to positive outcomes in this field.

Terms of participation:

  1. Fill in the participation form; include an explanation of the policies, initiatives and results achieved
  2. No external consulting firms are to be involved in the design and implementation of these initiatives
Eveluation:

1. Provision of policies, initiatives and facilities (30%)

  • Extent to which the entity makes and activates policies to enable working mothers to create a balance between their work and their family life.
  • Extent to which the entity implements initiatives and programs to enable the mother and child to carry out their activities and their lives easily.
  • Extent to which the entity carries out training and awareness programs in the fields of motherhood & childhood
  • Extent to which the entity provides mother and child-friendly facilities and provisions enabling them to carry out their activities / lives easily, which may include, for example:
    • Nursing and clothes changing facilities
    • Nursery/ Child care center
    • Health facilities suitable for children

2. Effectiveness: (50%)

  • Achievements & tangible results achieved by implemented policies and initiatives
  • Satisfaction of stakeholders and those affected by the policies and initiatives
  • Satisfaction of partners on areas of cooperation and joint work in the implementation of the policies and initiatives
  • Extent to which results of policies and initiatives contribute to the achievement of the strategic goals of The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood

3. Efficiency results: (5%)

  • Extent to which the participating entity efficiently utilized its resources in implementation of the policies and initiatives to ensure recognizing results and achievements that exceed the invested financial resources

4. Extent of stakeholder involvement and integration in the design and implementation of initiatives: (5%)

  • Extent to which stakeholders are involved in the design and implementation of policies and initiatives

5. Degree of Innovation and Sustainability in the Initiative: (10%)

  • Degree of innovation in the initiatives in terms of applying pioneering, innovative and unprecedented ideas.
Category 3: Best Campaign/Outreach Program in the field of Motherhood & Childhood
Criteria:

This is awarded to organizations and entities related to motherhood & childhood from the public and private sectors who have implemented effective outreach programs and campaigns in one of the following areas:

  • Developing talents of children and youth
  • Healthy lifestyle of mother and child
  • Protection of mother and child rights
  • Empowering children with disabilities

All in line with the strategic objectives of the Government and The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, meeting and exceeding the needs of stakeholders and leading to positive outcomes in this field.

Terms of participation:

  1. The campaign / outreach program must be recent and carried out during the last three years preceding the date of participation
  2. Fill in the participation form; include an explanation of the campaign / outreach program and results achieved
  3. Each entity may participate in more than one campaign / program at the same season/round

The Campaign / Outreach could be a digital application developed with the latest technologies.

Eveluation:

1. Effectiveness: (60%)

  • Achievements & tangible results realized by the implemented campaign / outreach program
  • Increased awareness of the target audience
  • Contribution of campaign / outreach program’s results to the achievement of the strategic goals of The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood

2. Efficiency results: (10%)

  • Extent to which the participating entity efficiently utilized its resources in the implementation of the campaign / outreach program to ensure the realization of results and achievements that exceed the invested financial resources

3. Degree of innovation and sustainability in campaign / program: (20%)

  • Degree of innovation in the campaign /outreach program in terms of applying pioneering, innovative and unprecedented ideas
  • Extent to which the results of the campaign / outreach program can be generalized and utilized by others
  • Sustainability of the results of the outreach campaign / program in the long run

4. Extent of participation of stakeholder’s involvement and integration with partners in the design and implementation of the initiatives: (10%)

Category 4: Best Initiative in Early Education
Criteria:

This is awarded to educational institutions (daycares, nurseries and schools) from the public and private sectors who have implemented initiatives and programs seeking to provide and develop curricula supporting early childhood education (prosper intellectual abilities within children before the actual school stage) scientifically and innovatively.

All in line with the strategic objectives of the Government and The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, and leading to positive outcomes in this field.

The initiative could be a digital application developed with the latest technologies.

Terms of participation:

  1. Initiatives must be recent and carried out during the last three years preceding the date of participation
  2. Fill in the participation form; include an explanation of the initiative and the results achieved
  3. Each entity may participate in more than one initiative / program at the same season/round

All in line with the strategic objectives of the Government and The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, meeting and exceeding the needs of stakeholders and leading to positive outcomes in this field.

This is awarded to institutions that are concerned with activating and enforcing the laws and organizations related to child affairs from the public and private sectors who have implemented initiatives and programs in the field of child protection.

All in line with the strategic objectives of the Government and The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, meeting and exceeding the needs of stakeholders and leading to positive outcomes in this field.

The is awarded to institutions and related to mothers and children affairs from the public and private sectors who have implemented initiatives and programs in support of the healthy lifestyle of mothers and children.

All in line with the strategic objectives of the Government and The Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, meeting and exceeding the needs of stakeholders and leading to positive outcomes in this field.

The initiative could be a digital application developed with the latest technologies.

This is awarded to public and private sector institutions and executives who have implemented initiatives and programs that have contributed to the support of the objectives and issues of motherhood & childhood within the context of social responsibility.

All in line with the strategic objectives of the Government and The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, meeting and exceeding the needs of stakeholders and leading to positive outcomes in this field.

Participating initiatives and programs should focus on one of the following areas:

  1. Developing children›s and youth’s talents
  2. Healthy lifestyle of mother and child
  3. Protection of mother and child rights
  4. Empowering children with disabilities

Terms of participation:

  1. Initiatives must be recent and carried out during the last three years preceding the date of participation

All in line with the strategic objectives of the government and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, meeting and exceeding the needs of stakeholders and leading to the realization of positive results in this area.

The contirbution could be a digital application developed with the latest technologies.

Terms of participation:

  1. Initiatives must be recent and carried out during the last three years preceding the date of participation
  2. Fill in the participation form; include an explanation of the initiative and the results achieved
  3. Each entity may participate in more than one initiative / program at the same season/round

Category 10: Leading Nursery
Criteria:

This is awarded to nurseries from the public and private sectors that use scientific methods and a motivating environment for children to contribute to the development of their cognitive ability and their ability to adapt to the outside world, having achieved outstanding results in the development of children’s abilities and creating a motivating environment for them.

Terms of participation:

  1. Nursery must be licensed for at least three years preceding the date of submission
  2. Fill in the participation form; include an explanation of how the criteria of the award are met, with a maximum of 250 words for each criterion
Eveluation:

1. The teaching approach and creating a motivating environment (250 words)

  • Describe approach used to develop cognitive abilities and learning during early childhood
  • Describe methods used to motivate children to learn and participate

2. Quality and Development (250 words)

  • Explain implemented procedures, standards & regulations that ensure a high and sustainable level of quality in education and childcare services
  • Describe future services development objectives, including initiatives and methods used to achieve these objectives
  • Explain the method used to develop the skills and competencies of staff, teachers and supervisors

3. Participation (250 words)

  • Explain how children, parents and the community are involved in the design, development and delivery of your services
  • Explain the methods used to enable parents to communicate with their children and follow up their activities remotely while their children are at the nursery
  • Explain how this participation is reflected on the development and improvement of the services provided

4. Innovation and leadership (250 words)

  • Describe the aspects that distinguish your institution from others
  • Clarify the innovative methods developed and implemented at your institution

5. Results. Kindly provide the following results and data:

  • Results of the evaluation of the nursery by third parties (for the last three years)
  • List of prizes and certificates of honor, achievement or excellence obtained by the nursery as a result of participation in external events and/or competitions
  • Parents’ satisfaction results
  • Institution’s teachers and employees’ satisfaction result
  • Letters of appreciation/gratitude from parents or other parties

Basic information and attachments:
The following information should be provided:

  1. Number of children and their ages for the past three years
  2. Number of employees of the nursery and their qualifications
  3. Name of the principal of the nursery and his/her qualifications

The following may also be included:

  1. Authenticated parental recommendations on nursery performance (up to 3 recommendations)
  2. Pictures of classrooms and nursery facilities (max. 10 photos)
Category 11: Emirates First Child
Criteria:

This is awarded to a child/adolescent in the UAE who has accomplished finest achievements in the fields of science, cultural activities, sports, volunteer work and innovation; in addition to possessing outstanding skills and talents.

Terms of participation:

  1. Emirati children of both genders (Male & Female) can participate in this category.
  2. Participants to be between the ages of 6 to 11 (for children) and between the ages of 12 to 18 (for adolescents) – participants birth certificates of children and adolescents must be presented and participation will be determined based on the age of participants on the day the application is submitted.
  3. Participation to be submitted through the registered Public and Private schools in the United Arab Emirates at the rate of ONE participant from each school.
  4. Fill in the participation form; include a description of the participant’s achievements – a maximum of 250 words for each criterion.
  5. General participation is also open for all children and youth:
    • Only ONE submission for each child/youth will be accepted.
    • Parents/guardian’s approval is essential.
Eveluation:

1. Achievements in Innovation: (20%)

  • List all innovations implemented by the child/adolescent and registered under his/her name as patents or intellectual ownership

2. Academic & Scientific achievements: (20%)

  • List the academic results achieved by the child/adolescent during the last 3 years

3. Cultural Achievements: (15%)

  • List all of the child/adolescent’s literacy authorship achievements (narrative, poetry, prose)

4. Achievements in Sports: (15%)

  • List all achievements of the child/ adolescent in individual or team sports (obtained first, second or third place)

5. Communal and Volunteer Achievements: (15%)

  • List the volunteer and/or charitable activities that the child/adolescent has organized and/or participated at, in or outside the school, and their results.

Artistic Achievements: (15%)

  • List all of the child/adolescent’s possessed art skills, i.e.: playing musical instruments, drawing, sculpturing, poetry reading, declamation etc… (please attach any certificates determining the level of the child/ adolescent in any of the skills listed)
  • List all awards received/attained in the skills and talents that the child/ adolescent possesses
